DailyPost Prompt: Interplanet Janet

You get to design your own planet: tell us all about your planet — the weather, the seasons, the inhabitants. Go.

My planet, Oceania, is covered entirely in water. The water is a clear crystal blue toward the center of the planet and at the poles it is a dark navy blue when viewed from space.  There are two seasons, swimming and resting season. During swimming season the water grows cool in the poles and the sea creatures and mermaids (the only intelligent life on the planet) migrate to the warmer bright waters. A calendar year is 16 months, so for eight months the majority of the planet’s population resides in the warm area known as Malalili. In the warmer months, resting season, the inhabitants spread back out and rest in their own zones. The are splendid fish of all shapes, sizes, and colors. There are several large swimming mammals. The weather is sunny and rainy on alternating days. It never gets cold enough to freeze into snow in the warm part of the planet, but the poles, known as Avona and Adelay turn to ice during the swimming season.
